 I have come across a number of businesses wondering about how to market their business online. One way of doing this is through Article Marketing. Article Marketing creates backlinks, allows you to target particular keywords, and can create additional doorways to your site - the more doors, the more likely someone will find you!
When it comes to article marketing, I am a big fan of ezinearticles.com. There are a number of others that are noteworthy. The reason that I like EzineArticles so much is because they keep the quality high and therefore it ranks well in Google. Believe it or not, a well written article can get to the front page of Google for a particular term in no time at all.
So, how do you use this?
First off - Get yourself a free account at EzineArticles. Please, make sure you read the guidelines. It will save you time and make sure your articles get approved faster.
To get the articles to work for you - do your keyword research. You want keywords that are related to your area/business. You want them to be lower competition with some reasonable search terms. You can get the basics by going to http://tools.seobook.com/ and using their keyword tool. It helps you find related keywords and their frequency of being searched.
Once you find 10-20 good keywords for your topic, go to google, and search out the competition. Do this by taking your keyword (3-5 words long I hope), putting them in quotes, and adding the allintitle tag for google. like this:
Keyword: getting out of debt
Search in google: allintitle:"getting out of debt"
Results - 12,000 pages - not bad, but not great.
You want your keywords to be <15,000 pages for the allintitle, and >50 searches per day from seobook keyword tool.
Now - find a way to get the words into the title of your article. Maybe something like: 10 Steps To Never Getting Out of Debt
Then, include the keyword term in the first paragraph again. And again in the 4th paragraph. Make sure your article isn't more than about 350-500 words. And make your resource box really work for you - a logical conclusion to the article. The resource box is where you link back to your own site with a resource/solution to their problem.
